I hope lightening doesn't strike twice...

This is a photo Jenny posted on Facebook about our power outage/lightening storm.  This storm was a doozy. Biggest in 22 years. It hit some lines in Anacortes and knocked out the power in the entire county.   That was the same night we made freezer strawberry jam by lantern light since our berries needed to be processed. We had  to make a non cooked version since we were powerless. Very pioneer of us and it turned out just fine.

That same storm sent Nugget out of her mind and she ran off and got herself lost... only to turn up the next morning down at our church parking lot headed for the road. Poor baby. She looked like she had rolled in a muddy ditch and had a limp.  The very next night we had another storm of lesser intensity. She was medicated on Benadryl and Advil and in the fenced back yard.  She is 16 and as you often hear said " Getting Old Isn't For Sissies".  We have since gotten her on a new dog food that helps her with her aches and pains and she seems all better.

As Summer presses on in the islands we are busy crabbing, taking pictures like tourists... which I may post tomorrow or soon.  It is really busy with visitors this year (tourists) and it has me looking forward to the slowing down season to come. Still, it is fun to share our island with newcomers.
Hope your summer is going well.

A BUNCH OF CATCH UP PHOTOS :)

Huey, as in Baby Huey, is a Big Rooster who is going to meet his maker tomorrow. Sadly this happens to most roosters. They get too big for their britches.
Rick on Father's Day.  He got a gift he can really use.

Schultzy, as in Hogan's Heroes

On our Father's Day hike around Mountain Lake with Bandit, the Libiez's dog.

Summer Fun

Jenny gets creative with our old toilet paper holder. It is a corner cabinet that used to be on the wall. Now it is being transformed into a cool castle bird house!

I can just see Rapunzel letting her hair down the heart shaped window :)

The completed quilt for Jenny. I like the bright green binding complimenting the bright green throughout. The contemporary dark fabric gives a punch to the camo fabric from her uniform.

I love that I could use her name badge.
The backing is a cherry blossom pattern. Sakura is cherry blossom in Japanese. The perfect backing to give the pooch permission to snuggle up in the blanky.
