Always Eat Before you Give Blood & Wait a Bit

You may be wondering what this one is all about. Well, I was just doin' what I normally do. Cram 10 things "I gotta do" into a very tight time frame. So I was up early and did 1/2 hr. Wii Exercise, got dressed and went to Medical Center to get BP and Weight checked. Then I gobbled my breakfast, because you don't want to weigh in after breaky. Then I cleaned a client's house for 3 hours. Back home for a quick bite to eat before going to give blood. All was well. I had an apt. with my walking partner that would be timed perfectly for when I get done giving blood. I know, don't give me the lecture. We walk her dog, we are not climbing mountains. That said, I decided to phone her to give me an extra 15 minutes in case it went long at the fire hall. At three o'clock I had my arm in the air and was waiting on my arm wrap.I went to the canteen to have some juice and cookies cuz' that's why everybody gives, when I started feeling warm and fuzzy in the head. I told the gal next to me that I was dizzy. That is the last thing I remember for a while. I guess I threw my head and Betty kept me from divotting my head or the table. They laid me on the floor and for the next couple of hours that's where I stayed until my blood pressure rose. I guess I was a scary shade of green and blue. I was so nauseous. Rick came and while I was getting some better, he gave blood. I was able to sit, then stand. We bee-lined to the bathroom because I had wet myself. I was given a nice pair of fireman's pants to wear and allowed to go back to the Canteen and have more juice and crackers this time. I think I'm allergic to the cookies:)
All told, I was at the firehall almost 4 hours! Some people will do just about anything for some attention and cookies.

Jenny's New Dress

Angie bought Jenny a dress. She wanted Jenny to have some fun since she worked so hard this summer with LDAC and her internship at the hospital in Hawaii. She has nowhere to wear this dress yet... But I think it when the opportunity arises, she will be more than ready to have some fun. In the first picture you can see Jenny's tan lines from working hard in Hawaii!
Jenny had just gotten her hair cut to this short Bob. It looks so nice. She is seen in her new Apt. in Spokane. It is really nice and in a nice neighborhood. Her roommates are good friends and this all adds up to a good Senior year.

Eastern, Cheney, New Home

This is the mascot at Eastern...I forget his name. He was very cool. How many mascots drive a 4 wheeler?
Sculpture on campus. Reminds me of something I'd see on Orcas.
What beautiful sewer covers. The welcome sign for Cheney looks similar...just no sewer stamp.
I thought they were quite pretty. Like a penny.

This is quite a lovely fountainy pool leading up to the library on the Eastern Campus.
This particular shot is a favorite of Joe's. The Eastern Eagle on the tower being the focal point. It was early evening in the fading light. Hard to believe how cold and snowy it will be within a month or so...

More Move In Pictures

Out walking around campus Joe pauses as Mom goes nuts with her camera. Lovely trashcan!
Jenny got to come on Saturday to see Joe and his room. The guys went to the football game and Jenny, Kat and I went to the mall for the gals to get haircuts. Jenny has a bob now. It is very cute.I'd like to see it now that she is taking care of it herself. It should be a bit curlier.
We were pooped out. Joe didn't even care his mother was leaning on him.
Looks like a microwave, right? This is Joe's safe they installed in his room for $95 for the school year. Big enough to pop your computer and other electronics in the room and not worry. .. Yikes, do they have a bad problem with thievery?
Wow, Joe makes his bed just right.

Joe Goes to Eastern!

Midnight tried to stowaway to go with Joe. He was crying and looking for Joe for days!
We took Joe to Costco to get some food for snacking on... Guess who was outside! Poor Joe, I made him pose with Smokey!

Rick having a moment after bringing many loads from the parking lot, up the stairs to Joe's 3rd floor room. It has brick on the walls which is interesting, but not good to hang posters on?
In this shot you see more of his room, and his bed fully made. The nice thing about the bed is you can jack it up so there is lots of room underneath for all his musical instruments.

Happy Anniversary to US

To celebrate our Anniversaries we went out to dinner at Mai Lon's and had some delicious Vietnamese cooking. It was Mike and Shannon's anniversary the day before ours. Last year we also went to dinner at the Thai Sister's Restaurant. It's a great tradition. We shouldn't wait an entire year to do it again.

Crab Movies!

These movies are evidence that crabbing is just plain fun.

More Crabbing Adventures!

How many crabbing adventures can one season hold? Well, at least one more! Pictured are Emily, myself and Kailey (I know I spelled that wrong) and Rick at the helm. Emily is a friend from the Blaine Jazz Camp who came to stay for a week with Kailey and as usual, Joe was working. The light is quickly failing so we tried to make the most of it.
Looks like we both had pictures on the brain. Never did get to eat any chips! But if I remember correctly, the girls ate their dinner on the way to the boat.
It looks like I am going to spank the crab. Stunning is more to the point.I have perfected this technique. Place crab on bucket rim while holding both last legs in hand. Give two or three quick and forceful poundings on the shell. When the claws go limp, grab all legs and claws in 2 separate hands and pull downward at the same time. Awesome. Pick off the devil and shake out the ickies over the water. Throw the lid in the sea and save the rest. Makes picking the crabs later a clean snap.
Angie is the queen of cleaning. She too was impressed with my new 2 at once plan.
Rick is such a sport. Not one to enjoy eating crab...he knows they must be respected. Even in the stunned state they can pinch. So it is with great facial gestures that we do the deed.
Picking the devil off.
So Three crabs become...
Six halves, ready to steam and enjoy.
