Golf Awards Banquet

The night was full of good food, lots of awards from the givingest coach there is: Coach Bobby.

Among the regular trophies, the Boy's Team that competed at Tri-Districts were given the "Kick Ass" trophy!

This was an awesome year with great teammates. What can we say?

Prom Night

The early arrivers were taught how to do the Electric Slide...  Joe watched
Joe and his Chauffeur Jenny. She helped him get ready, laughed and talked hair products while I trimmed his hair, and even dressed up for pictures!
Joe and his sidekick Stephen.  (trying to look cool).  If you want to look at the pictures taken by Paul Evans.... here is the address: web.mac.com/paul.evans/prom2008/candid/html#254

Jenny's Home

Yes, it must be getting close to summer, though you can't tell by the temperature. Jenny has been home since Tuesday night and we have now moved all her stuff upstairs. Wow, that congestion didn't last too long.  She started back to work at Ray's and is delightful to have her around. She is seen here at the clubhouse of Lake Padden Golf Course. She met Rick and Joe there to watch some of the State Playoffs.

Lucky Archie and his new Family

Wow, his smiling face says it all.  Karen is the happy new Master of Archie on Lopez Island.  Last we heard, they were trying to decide on a bed out of 5 different styles. We miss you Arch.

Archie has a New Home!!

Yes, it is true!  Archie has been adopted by someone on Lopez Island that is a good supporter of the animal shelter, and has been pining for a dog to call her own.  He will actually have two devoted adults to shower love and affection on him and I know he will return the favor.  It is such wonderful news. I cannot imagine a better placement for him.  Bye Arch, we'll miss you!

THE Golf Team of 2008

So this is our fearless leader Coach Bobby. Looks like he got too close to Roy?!!

This team has been  a really fun team.
So on fun day they get to dress up, not worrying about what is golf etiquette and coach allows them 3 clubs to play nine holes. A putter and two irons of their choice. I think I heard some complaining.  That's  what fun day is all about, to do what you never would have dreamed of attempting.
Play Golf!

In Between Pictures and Teas is Oatmeal

I am not picking on oatmeal. I had it for breakfast and it was fine.
Today is kind of a blah day.  I feel a little tired. It's rainy and chilly and it just makes you want to pull the plug on the outside world.  I know, poor me. Must be the let down after such a fairy tale tea party.  I did get to knit with some friends which lightened the day.  Not every day can be noteworthy right?

Fit for a Queen

Oh my, what is in that silver tower of treats?  Cream puff swans, Strawberries dipped in white and milk chocolate, Chile Cheese Quiche, Darlin little Sandwiches: Olive/cream cheese and cucumber/ cream cheese.
The table was set so lovely with Michelle's mom's china.   Deviled eggs with olives and pickled Okra adorned by blue bells, apple blossoms in a crystal vase.
A close up of my plate.. Oh it was soooo good. We even had name cards that had a lovely sentiment on the back that double as book marks.
But more than the fancy tableware, and food were the friendships being celebrated. We are grateful for the encouragement, love and prayers, and deepening friendships that allow us to be transparent with each other. It was a Rich Time spent together.

Happy 5th Anniversary!

We hope you have a wonderful Anniversary Weekend. So, does it seem like just yesterday or does it seem like you've been together forever?  Will we see some food pictures?
No matter how you spend it... enjoy yourselves.

Mother's Day... Set in Stone

I drove past the Orcas Island Historical Museum and noticed the new walkway. This features the fundraiser bricks that we ordered long ago.
As you can see the Boucher family is crowded in on a small one.
And Barb and Robb also have a piece of the "rock" now.
I think this is a great Mother's Day surprise.

You Win Some, You Lose Some

Our team was a big winner at the Tri-District match. We had 5 players place in the top ten and they will go on to play at State, which is hosted at the Lake Padden Golf Course in Bellingham this year.  The combined points of all the players won us the #1 Team Spot!!
A shot of Joe just after he finished hole 18. They double check score cards, sign them and turn them in.
It was a lovely day in Oak Harbor. We were right on the water which made it a very blustery day, adding to the degree of difficulty on the course.
Some scenes on the way were the Whidbey Island Naval Air Base.
And the beautiful Deception Pass.  Everytime I go through there I make a promise to myself to come back. It is just so pretty there.

Archie Needs a Home

Helen's dog Archie is in need of a home.  This is what I know of Archie. He is 7 years old and very playful.  He is mostly Beagle with a bit of Border Collie mix in him. He is lean and tallish and very strong.  He would be best suited for a home as the top dog, and without small children.  He needs love and attention and I do mean NOW.  He is staying with us temporarily and may be going to the animal shelter soon.
We would love to see him go to a good home on the island, but he can travel if need be.  Please inquire soon.

Beautiful Day at Avalon

The weather could not have been better, the fairways were a bit mushy, the greens fast and the foursome Joe played with were very nice.  He had a good day of play, scoring 49 on the back and front nine for a total of 98. Anthony Ghazel was the high scorer for our team with an awesome 78.  He was #2 in the entire league! GO Anthony!  Next week is the tri-district playoffs in Oak Harbor on Wed/Thurs.  Stay tuned for more golf updates in the near future.
