One of our baby banties is starting to lay eggs

A little perspective. Large on left is Henny's egg, the one on right is a regular sized bantam egg. Baby in the middle.

Fun Flower Wall you will see at the Barn Store!

Dill for sale at the Barn Store

This is what Colleen would call the money shot. Love it. Stopped on my way to work to take this picture.

Baby season calls for a quilt to be made

Love the many colors and random embroidered hearts to help quilt it.

Got a beat up wooden tray at a yard sale for $1  Look what I made Mom!

OK all you Dreisch's here is sour cherry jam I made this year. You talk about bring back the memories!

Those yummy crabs after steaming!

I hope lightening doesn't strike twice...

This is a photo Jenny posted on Facebook about our power outage/lightening storm.  This storm was a doozy. Biggest in 22 years. It hit some lines in Anacortes and knocked out the power in the entire county.   That was the same night we made freezer strawberry jam by lantern light since our berries needed to be processed. We had  to make a non cooked version since we were powerless. Very pioneer of us and it turned out just fine.

That same storm sent Nugget out of her mind and she ran off and got herself lost... only to turn up the next morning down at our church parking lot headed for the road. Poor baby. She looked like she had rolled in a muddy ditch and had a limp.  The very next night we had another storm of lesser intensity. She was medicated on Benadryl and Advil and in the fenced back yard.  She is 16 and as you often hear said " Getting Old Isn't For Sissies".  We have since gotten her on a new dog food that helps her with her aches and pains and she seems all better.

As Summer presses on in the islands we are busy crabbing, taking pictures like tourists... which I may post tomorrow or soon.  It is really busy with visitors this year (tourists) and it has me looking forward to the slowing down season to come. Still, it is fun to share our island with newcomers.
Hope your summer is going well.

A BUNCH OF CATCH UP PHOTOS :)

Huey, as in Baby Huey, is a Big Rooster who is going to meet his maker tomorrow. Sadly this happens to most roosters. They get too big for their britches.
Rick on Father's Day.  He got a gift he can really use.

Schultzy, as in Hogan's Heroes

On our Father's Day hike around Mountain Lake with Bandit, the Libiez's dog.

My He-Man

Treasures along the way

Choppy waters in late afternoon on Mt.Lake

PEEKIES

Ferry Boat Scenery

Out of the Fog and Clouds

Beautiful, but  it would make a terrible puzzle!

Summer Fun

Jenny gets creative with our old toilet paper holder. It is a corner cabinet that used to be on the wall. Now it is being transformed into a cool castle bird house!

I can just see Rapunzel letting her hair down the heart shaped window :)

The completed quilt for Jenny. I like the bright green binding complimenting the bright green throughout. The contemporary dark fabric gives a punch to the camo fabric from her uniform.

I love that I could use her name badge.
The backing is a cherry blossom pattern. Sakura is cherry blossom in Japanese. The perfect backing to give the pooch permission to snuggle up in the blanky.

Deploy that Fabric

I found a cool book in the public library called "Deploy That Fabric". This is one of the ideas for using old service uniforms.  I am making this throw for Jenny using one of her old uniforms from ROTC. They changed the camo pattern so this is perfect for using and yet still holds lots of memories for Jenny. I figure it will most likely be used by Sakura while Mom is at work.

I have been more than rotten at keeping in touch. Life has been way too busy. I am sewing, gardening, cleaning, cleaning some more and Jenny came for a week long visit. I tried to just do the minimum for working and spent my time with her. We had a great time and some of those pics are on her camera... which I will get to share those photos soon.

Hope your summer is heating up (of course I would say that since 60's is heating up for us.)
Cheers!

I Found My I Pod!! It has been missing over a month. I was depressed. I figured all my pics from MD were gone. All my portable music gone. I just kept looking and cleaning and looking and cleaning. I was worried. And sad. .... tonight I was grinding up the egg shells we save (for the chickens to boost the shell quality) and cleaning up the counter I was looking on the counter behind where I was working... and there it was sitting in a two holed jam jar holder?  I am so happy. I am charging it right now. Maybe tomorrow I will have time to write and share pictures. For now I will share one picture that  shows how much Joy I feel now that I have been reunited with my little contraption!
