On our latest trip to the mainland we invested in a new mower. Yes, the same weekend as Justin's wedding. We always have to multi-task when going ashore. Anyhow, the new mower has a more powerful engine than the little putt putt we've been using and what a joy it is to mow now. It devours the lawn! We did not want a self propelled because they go fritzy and then the s.p. feature doesn't work and they are hard hard to push then! Besides, we thought we would get great exercise with the push mower! So we take it out of the box and look at the directions... Assemble before Starting!! This thing must be made in China to have a stupid caution like that!! Rick was able to resist the temptation and get it in working order fairly quickly. 
It is a fine machine for just under $200!
I'd love for you to guess what I am doing? We had been couped up in the car for 6 1/2 hours, add ferry ride for 1 1/2 more hours and we went crazy doing yard work since the sun was still shining :).
Getting these pictures at the beginning of every month keeps us longing to squeeze her chubbiness and kiss those sweet cheeks! Mo is 6 mos old now and from the blur of the tootsies we can tell that she is all action and smiles. What a Summer. May was full of trips to Eastern to see Joe perform and mini trips to see Mom and Dad in Tri-Cities. June was another trip to bring Joe home for the summer. Work, work, work, bridal showers, today is a wedding, last Saturday was a family wedding. Next week is Bible school in the evenings, work, work,work. Friends have been ill, hospitalized, had surgery, or been away and gardens needed watering. So did ours. Our garden is coming along nicely.Oh, and then there's the chickens. Just yesterday we threw away the last unhatched egg and boy was it a stinker!! PU!! So the total live hatched is 22! We gave 6 chicks and one mom to an old friend of Jenny's. We still have a chicken yard full of chickens, but we will probably keep the rest.
I will now attempt to post a few pictures to bring you up to speed. This is a terrible post but I feel like I have to take baby steps to get going again.
That is one happy momma. She hatched out 2 chickies and then as others have success we take their chicks and give them to this mom. I did not know that the other hens might eat the chicks if not kept in a confined area. So I am pleased to introduce you to Chrissy, Tux, Zipper and Sparkle. Sparkle was just discovered this morning. It is fun to see the different colors. 2 Grey, one black and one buff. There are still many eggs still being incubated, and time will tell if we add to our numbers. 21 days is a long time to be off your feed. We give the mom food and water in her "birthing room".
Where would we be without it? I would be miserable not being able to "visit" with the family while Mo is growing up. Do you think she sees us?
Nah, but I can dream, can't I? So cool to see Angie "over there" too! She had a great visit, loaded with lots of fun memories.
She is such a cute big girl. She is so strong and I think she already knows the camera is her friend. I just want to squeeze her!
We had a glorious drive over the Mountains on Monday. I have some pictures on my phone but don't know how to send them to my email yet? Take my word for it, it was a sight to behold. There is still a lot of snow on the mountains. It doesn't look like May on the Mountains. More like February. It made me wish Barb and Robb could see how beautiful it is on the way to Great Grandma's house.
Pictures. bummer. Couldn't take pictures this trip because Grandma is black and blue from falling in the Target parking lot. No lasting damage but her colors change daily, and her body is sore from slamming down on asphalt.
Next stop is Spokane. After all the many visits to see Jenny while she was in school, going to Spokane is a nostalgic time. We met up with Joe in the Music Annex building at Gonzaga. He was sick and trying his best not to cough. We've all had those times, and here he is trying to play his best when breathing itself is hard... He did really good and his accompanist was perfect. That would be his friend Jeremy. He did not win and the disappointment was like an elephant in the room that no one would speak about. Not our disappointment, but his. He wanted to win. He didn't want to be sick, who does. Life goes on and we had to get him back to school in time for his 5pm Jazz band class. It was probably good to focus on different music right away. We waited til class was over to take him home and let Rick look at his computer woes... Waiting on the replacement chord in the mail.
Joe will go see the Doctor this afternoon. He says Strep and Bronchitis are going around school. It was so very good to see him, and to hear him play. It was so very hard to see him unwell and struggling. Parenting really isn't for sissies.
The weather on the East side was so beautifully sunny and warm. We are home where it has temporarily stopped raining and the temp is 48. I am inside, cozy by the fire, grateful to be home.
Mom and Dad took a trip to Washington D.C. and made time to drop in on Barb and Robb and their new great grandchild Maureen.
