Always in the Mood for Turtleback

It started as a casual question. Wanna go up Turtleback tomorrow? Joe had recently gotten a pair of five finger "shoes" he wanted to test out. They have vibram soles and are a part of the Barefoot running craze.
The trail was a bit rocky and maybe not the best hike for the first time out of the "box".
We didn't have any pics together so this was a shot when we paused on a bench on our way back down.
When a trail is steep it is easier to go up fairly quickly. The stride had to be much shorter on the way down. Still we had a great hike and lunch on the top. The view is always so amazing.
Joe at Ship's Peak looking over Nordstrom Lane and Crow Valley.
We had to look very hard to find any fun vegetation. It has been very dry and there were no flowers to speak of. But these are amazing. I don't know their name but we did find the rinds having been eaten like a kiwi.

Finally we took a picture of the map
My hair was wet from sweating. Joe kept the pace up and we made it in record time. Only two smallish pauses. He was killing me.
Ship's Peak anyone???

It's funny that you took a photo of the vine thingys. Grant and I were amazed by them when we hiked and still don't know what they are. They cover everything!!! I was thinking...body snatchers! :P hmm.. seriously?
