Closing of Awana and one more Cross

Well, we had our Awana Awards Ceremony and now the year is officially over. The T N Ters were definately the larger group, but we had the best turn out ever of Sparkies to accept their awards.

Rick told the older Awana kids that if they got their attendance up to 30 he would let them shave his head. Well on the last night of club they met the goal. They actually asked me to do the honors and it was like a mob scene feeding frenzy. They were yelling MOHAWK, exclaiming with glee when a big chunk came off. So I decided to leave a top knot and a girl brought me a ribbon. Boy, the things we do for Awana.
I forgot to show one of the sweetest crosses. Keith made this and it was highlighted in the front hallway where the greeters stand. The light shines through it and makes it lovely. Thanks Keith!

Some Guys Have All the Fun

I guess that's not totally true. But Ethan and Keith did have a blast on his
Go Kart. We even heard tell about a 180 degree spin out! Cool.
We had a great time at lunch and visiting with Roy and Dawn. It
was a very nice Sunday afternoon, and a delicious lunch. Thanks !!

Ronna is Caught in a Lie!

If you look closely you can see her nose growing! She certainly has everyone's attention!

Golf day on Lopez Island

Rick is driving a bunch of the golf team to the match on Lopez Is. I packed another bag of snacks and sandwiches, carrots included, and he was able to get them to the car this time. I sure hope they eat the carrots. I just don't feel up to it today!

Aloha

I love this picture. Some of us in class are listening well to Kathy's introductory message. Then there are some of us who are too busy taking pictures and thinking about the beautiful food to come...
Melloni and Anthony made the nicest spread of food. It's too beautiful to eat. Well, almost.

Some random pictures of our class and the set up for the Aloha party. It's to wish Anna and Claire well as they move on to Texas and California.
Anna, Daphne and Claire.
Our fun set up. This group definitely knows how to enjoy life. We will miss these ladies but we know we had them for a time and now God will lead the onward to where they will begin again.
God Bless you and your families.

Overeating???

The other day I was making a bag of snacks for Rick and Joe to have at the away Golf Match. It's not that they can't get to a store, they could have I guess. It's more that once they get to the store they might be lured in to buy something less than good for them. So I was shaving the carrots and making a nice fat bag full. They had apples, some peanuts, and other things too that I just can't remember. Well, Rick called and said the ferry line was filling up and he didn't have time to stop for snacks. I also had to be somewhere on the other side of the island so it was a lost cause.
Later that afternoon when I was home and feeling hungry I decided to eat their carrots. I made quite a bag full but I kept happily munching away. Have you ever stuffed yourself with so many carrots that you felt sick??? Now I can say I have. This picture will remind me that I don't have to stuff my pouches, there will always be plenty in the fridge!

Awana Kids & Leaders I work with

Jessie Staub made the cutest bird at knitting today . It was a prototype for future birdies. Well, I took some of her felted sweater home, found some felted wool for the breast and made a very wide body version (since I found out the wool stretches) complete with tail.
I was hoping for an orange breast to be a robin, but plaid is more fitting for our "spring" temperatures! I was supposed to be hemming Joe's pants.
Seven Sparkies kept us busy. Who would have thought 7 could be a handful.

Finally, good weather to play outside!
