Salsa Primo

Ah yes, It is that wonderful time of year when my house smells strongly of garlic, peppers and onion.  Salsa time is a big tradition with us.  Seeing all the jars makes Rick very happy.  It seems that everyone is concerned that this  is not enough to "see us through" the winter so we may be repeating the process soon.  I would like my hands to recover first.  We do our salsa the old fashioned way...cutting everything by hand with the exception of the garlic and a few of the hotter peppers (habenero, serrano and chili jalepenos). That was 30 lbs. of tomatoes and many other secret ingredients.   Joe thought that it wasn't hot enough "it barely tickles my taste buds".  That sounds like a challenge to me!

The Power of Suggestion

It's funny but each time I look at the blog for answers to the question about the holidays I start daydreaming about the Holidays!!  I think maybe it has something to do with the fact that I try and make something special for family and that takes time.   I have to be inspired with just the right idea, plan colors or patterns and then begin.  It takes lots of time.... So now I find myself changing my answer in my head.... I also wanted to make my Christmas cards and that too takes time.  So maybe you need to reconsider your answer, or your gift giving and make it all meaningful.  Balance is always the greatest challenge. Keeping Christ in Christmas, ho, ho, ho.

Nugget

Nugget is our sweet girl that sometimes resembles a bear more than a dog.  She turned 9 years old on Valentine's day.  She loves chasing squirrels, treeing racoons and eats cooked crab legs. She dislikes rain and loves it when it snows. I remember telling her when she was an abandoned puppy she was my insurance against empty nest syndrome.

The Mighty Oak, Jr.

To think that this little tree came from an acorn from the parent oak behind my childhood homestead.  We gathered the acorns in fall of 1997. After giving them to my neighbor who has a green thumb, he germinated them and grew two lovely trees. Unfortunately, the runt tree succumbed to the lawn mowers repeated attacks.  Jr. survived and this year will be 9 years old.

Trudi Armstrong,Spinner, Kinion, Spinner

Trudi left the island once again, only to return in time for my birthday!!
That was the best birthday present a girl could ever get.
 Thanks Ricky

Remember my White Wings?

Angie and I had such fun coloring together.  We woke Rick up giggling
in the bathroom.  The game day was fun with lots of surprised faces and
the general excitement of a new season.  No we didn't win, but it was not
a runaway game.  So the party is over.... But after 7 washes I am just as
electric as day one. YIKES... this is supposed to wash out!  It's hard to be
taken seriously with your hair blue..

School starts tomorrow, Jen is back at school  already and Angie is with
us til the 20th.
Yesterday was the final day of crabbing season.  Five fine Dungeoness to finish
the season...
Fall begins.
