Jenny's Commissioning

I put these in the wrong order... but this is the happy family posing with the Second Lieutenant.

Spring is Here and Summer's Coming...

This is the first Rhubarb of the season and Angie made this Weight Watcher recipe that lets us have our Rhubarb and eat it too.

We completed our fire pit last week and we enjoyed a recreational fire that night. It is sooo nice. I am looking forward to summer and we are thinking of trying to steam crab over a fire this year. Come and help.

Outrageous Grace

There's a lot of pain, but a lot more healing
There's a lot of trouble, but a lot more peace
There's a lot of hate, but a lot more loving
There's a lot of sin, but a lot more grace.

Oh outrageous grace, Oh outrageous grace
Love unfurled by heaven's hand.
Oh outrageous grace, Oh outrageous grace
Through my Jesus I can stand.

There's a lot of fear, but a lot more freedom
There's a lot of darkness, but a lot more light
There's a lot of cloud, but a lot more vision
There's a lot of perishing, but a lot more life.

Oh outrageous grace, Oh outrageous grace
Love unfurled by heaven's hand.
Oh outrageous grace, Oh outrageous grace
Through my Jesus I can stand.

This past week held a bit of sadness. On Sunday this was one of the worship songs that gave a glimpse of light and hope. God is in control and I was comforted with that knowledge.

Family Shots

Here I am trying to do justice for one of the many creations Angie has made. She knit this "Beet Bag" and I lined it so that it is ready for daytime or formal nighttime adornment. It now lives in a small town on the Eastern Coast of the US of A.

There is nothing like being home from school on spring break and chillin' with your cat. I know that a good nap after a good feed is high on the list for Joe. The tux was one of the purchases we made while Joe was home. He will be playing with the Orchestra at Eastern and will need some fine duds.

It was a sad night when Rick had to cut the swing down. The rope was getting too thin and some kids started chucking the wooden seat at eachother so we felt it was time to retire the swing. I'm sure it will be forgotten easily, but it has served us well these last 18 years at this house.

Where's the Party?

Life on Orcas is incomplete unless you go visit the farms to see the new babies. The Lambs were too far off so I hope to get back out there... but still there is just something about animals looking cute from a distance... (remember the pigs?) I am sure sheep have an odor all their own in this damp world we live in.

Houdini

This is Trina's pig for slaughter. She will fatten him up for the summer and then come fall he will go bye-byes to the butcher. It's all part of the know what you eat and where it comes from. Just takes on new meaning when you have to visit restaurants for slops and always have the piggy in mind. Trina also has adorable Banty chickens who would love a share of the slops, but PIGS RULE.

OH the life of a pig!

Now if you know me very well, you know I have a thing for pigs. You can say I'm pigged out and don't want to collect anymore... But the real thing is hard to resist. That is until you smell them. Oh, that I will have to prepare myself for the next time I go to visit with slops.

So the two with snouts raised look like they are singing and don't miss the little one who is in the trough!

Dental floss anyone?

But Trina's little Houdini is the cutest. He is also the smallest. He can squeeze under the divider and get "special slops" from mom, until he grows too big. Today Trina said they were not supposed to name them so when butchering time comes it will be easier to eat him. Well, I guess Porkchop, or Bacon Bit is a suitable name.

They are filthy... but what did you expect. If you visit bring slops.

Notice the hint of green on Houdini's lips? He got lucky with a piece of lettuce and the others know it.
